Tired of Presidential politics? Obama and Hillary bumming you out? Then let's talk about a real bum – Gabe Newman. Gabe is a unique street person. Prior to winning our 2008 Street Person of the Year award he had a dream to rise above his condition of living in his late model American made car and be one of the most recognized men in America, live in a big mansion, have men fear his power and women desire him as he sets the tone of American culture. Gabe wanted to be our generation's Hugh Hefner. Recognizing that he needs a stepping stone to launch this campaign, he has agreed to use his media exposure as Street Person of the Year, for the good of our country, and run for President.

Looks great in a cardboard box!

There is a season to the big award programs – The Kennedy Center Honors, Tony’s, Oscar’s, Grammy’s and other lesser awards.  The Street Person of the Year Award is a big honor in that realm of lesser awards and it's season is summer when all the street people leave their winter housing and roam the streets looking for change.  Mainly because we can not think of one other organizations, social service organization, or charitable aid agency that is taking the time to honor the work, skills and dedication of the street people of the world.  Street-people.com is proud to have established the only award that honors the contributions that panhandlers, hobos, bums and vagrants have added to the cultural heritage of our urban environments.

The Cos' of Street People
   Being on the street for a year is not a reason to celebrate, unless you are  www.street-people.com. This website which has generated angry comments from charitable organizations and individuals when it was launched will celebrate it’s 1 year anniversary by posting stories and photos about the panhandlers, bums, and hobos, that hustle the office workers and tourist in our hometown of  Memphis for change everyday. 

In celebration of the 1 year anniversary we will unviel on Friday, August 31 , 2007 our “Street Person of the Year”.  We thought we should recognize the street person who gave us the best story about how they ended up on the street and it involves Bill Cosby!
