I must remember to carry a camera at all times because I hit the bum trifecta the other day and had no camera handy to document this bum evolution.

Recently we talked about how street people had finally figured out teaming up and working both sides of a highway off ramp with a partner would most likely garner them more money.  It seems their alcohol infused brains still work because they have evolved into covering four way stops at major intersections.

A few days ago I spotted three street people at a major intersection, each working a different side of the street. Obviously they left one side open but I am sure if they can wake up another bum from his shanty in the bum village they will soon play panhandle four square.

I had to turn around several times so I could get a glimpse of the street people coherent enough to form a small collective and try to maximize their income.  Two guys had your basic "Homeless & Hungry" sign while I assume the third man was the ring leader as he went for broke with "Disabled Vet, Need Help."  This was a balls-to-the-wall ploy as it could go either way.

We all support our troops and wish for everyone's safe return.  Their job is not to set policy just follow orders and try to come home physically and mentally unscathed.  Naturally our hearts and loose change would go out at this time to anyone saying they had served in the military regardless of wether or not we think the war is correct.

So here was a man that was standing for hours, on a street, holding a sign, and is not well enough to get a job?  So let us cross out physical injury.  That leaves he is mentally disabled, which I fully believe spending time in a war zone can cause anyone to toss in the towel and just hang out on a street corner.  But is this really a good ploy to get money – "Hey everyone, look at me I'm crazy, give me money."

In addition, you run the risk of someone questioning you about your service.  The level of people with family members now serving I think someone is going to catch on if you are spreading the bull to get change.  This street person did not look in his prime so I don't think either Afghanistan or Iraq had been in his past.  This leaves Vietnam which he looked way to young.  This leaves the average person with the feeling that this street person is just cashing in on the sacrifice of people.  This is a bad move for getting loose change.

Still street people are a work in progress – it is a human social Petri dish with a lot of fuzzy, gross bacteria growing in it and a really bad smell.
